School Business Leaders Day is a dedicated opportunity to celebrate and recognise the vital work of School Business Leaders (SBLs) across the education sector. These professionals play a crucial role in ensuring schools run efficiently, effectively, and sustainably, managing everything from finance and human resources to operations, procurement, and strategic planning.
Often working behind the scenes, SBLs make a significant impact on the day-to-day running of schools, allowing teaching staff to focus on delivering high-quality education. Their leadership and expertise support the whole school community, helping to create safe, well-resourced, and financially stable learning environments.
This day is about acknowledging their contributions, raising awareness of their role, and encouraging others to consider this rewarding and dynamic career path in education.
There are lots of ways to get involved on the day:
-
Host a staffroom celebration or team breakfast
-
Create a “thank you wall” where colleagues can leave messages of appreciation
We have decided to get some of our school Business Leaders to showcase what they enjoy about their role
Our School Business Leader Josephine George from Oakdale Infant school had this to say about the role below.
Josephine George
Oakdale Federation School Business Lead

“As a School Business Manager, what I enjoy most is the variety and purpose behind every task—no two days are the same.
From managing budgets and facilities to ensuring staff and students have the resources they need; the role is both dynamic and deeply rewarding.
It can be a daunting role at times, with high demands and the need to juggle multiple responsibilities, but the sense of accomplishment is unmatched.
Knowing that your work supports the smooth running of the school and contributes to the development of the next generation makes it all worthwhile.
For those who are passionate about Education but prefer a behind-the-scenes role, being a School Business Manager offers a unique and impactful way to make a real difference in Education.”
